“The expert in anything was once a beginner.” Today, Malik crosses the stage a doctor.
Every fourth-year opens an envelope on Match Day and learns where the next chapter begins. Malik's said Emory — pediatrics — and he hasn't stopped smiling since.
Dear family and friends,
I remember the white coat ceremony like it was yesterday — Malik, twenty-two and terrified, shrugging into a coat two sizes too crisp while I cried in the third row. He called that night and said, "Ma, I don't know what I'm doing." I told him nobody does, on day one. Do it anyway.
Four years, more exams than either of us could count, and one very long March morning waiting on Match Day results later — he did it anyway, every single time. This May he crosses the stage as Dr. Malik Johnson. I could not be prouder, and I would love nothing more than to have you there beside me.

Malik graduates Doctor of Medicine, magna cum laude — inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for the kind of doctor grades alone can't measure.
