How it happened
The Promise

Dearest friend,

We want to tell you exactly how it happened, because we still can’t quite believe our luck. James asked Elowen to walk with him at first light, out past the last row of the orchard to the oldest apple tree on the property — the gnarled one that’s been there longer than the farmhouse itself.

He had a whole speech prepared. He got as far as “I’ve been thinking about the rest of my life, and” — and Elowen said yes before he finished the sentence. He laughs about it still. She says she just knew.

Now we’d love nothing more than an evening with the people who mean the most to us — cider in hand, long table set, lanterns lit against the dusk.

With so much love,
Elowen & James
