Four years of early alarms, late libraries, and the long walk across the Drillfield come to a close this May. We'd be honored to have you there as Maya Carter earns her Bachelor of Science and becomes, officially, a Virginia Tech graduate.

“The expert in anything was once a beginner.” Today, Maya crosses the stage a graduate.
Dear family and friends,
Maya arrived on the Drillfield as a wide-eyed freshman who got lost finding Burruss Hall on her very first day. Somewhere between all-nighters in Newman Library, a research position she talked her way into as a sophomore, and far too much dining-hall coffee, Blacksburg stopped being a place she was passing through and started being home.
This May she'll walk across that same Drillfield in a cap and gown, hand over a well-worn student ID, and receive the diploma she's earned four years running. We could not be prouder, and we would love nothing more than to have you there to see it.

Commencement is a finish line and a starting block at once. Here's where Maya is headed after she walks the stage.
Maya graduates having made the Dean's List for six consecutive semesters — a quiet, consistent kind of excellence we couldn't be prouder of.
Cocktail / Garden Party — polished and celebratory, comfortable for a walk across the lawn.
A cocktail dress or elegant separates in champagne, gold, or navy. Low heels or flats — the ceremony lawn is real grass.
A suit or blazer in navy, charcoal, or stone — tie optional, a pocket square always welcome.
